Community Spotlight: Save the VA Committee

Our community spotlight for the week of January 24th is the 'Save the VA' Committee.  This group was formed by concerned Hot Springs citizens in 2011 in the wake of the proposed closure of the Hot Springs Veterans Administration Hospital.  The group has worked tirelessly since then to raise awareness of the issues and to present counter arguments to the closing of the facility.  The committee has even sent members to speak to the appropriations committee in Washington D.C.  In October the draft of the EIS (Environmental Impact Survey) was published.  The public comment window for the EIS is currently open.  One of the services the Save the VA Committee has organized is volunteers to assist people with putting their comment together.

For more information on the Save the VA Committee visit their website at: http://theveteranstown.com/  or visit them on facebook   For those seeking assistance in filling out your comment please contact the Mueller Center at 605-745-3446, they can direct you to the proper volunteers.
